Exploring forgotten places across Europe

Wet Dogs
Abandoned Factory Belgium
Visit 2023/2025
The  name Wet Dogs came from the smell of the place—you can probably imagine.
Thanks for the tip, @seenbymephotography!

The blast furnace, which was part of this power plant, had been idle since 2008, but the official closure wasn’t announced until 2012. Industrial activity on this site began back in 1836.

As is often the case in the steel industry, the factory went through numerous mergers and acquisitions over the years, until it finally came under Italian ownership in 2001. Production of primary steel ceased in 2008, and although a new buyer was sought, none was found. By 2012, the factory’s doors were closed for good.

Inside the old power station, anything still usable was salvaged—but judging by the thick layer of dust covering every surface, little has moved since.
